High Quality Needlework kits

The 17th century Turkisch traveller, Evliya Çelebi, described embroidery as ‘the craft of two hands’. Since those early years, generations of stitchers have kept this ancient craft alive. In the 21st century, a new name popped up: LanArte.

The history

In 1934 Guus and Emilie Vergnes started a small store, in Leeuwarden in The Netherlands. The store quickly became the place to be for exclusive needlework kits. For decades LanArte is a leader in the craft sector. In the 1970’s and 80’s, Guus and Emilie’s sons developed their exclusive brand to be one of  the best in Europe. In 2011, the Belgian group Verachtert bought the company. This brought a new dynamic, creativity and further expansion. Today, LanArte launches 2 new collections each year, each inspired by the latest trends. Being a succesful brand for nearly a century is only possible if you are constantly seeking out new challenges. This is what makes LanArte world class.

The growth of the brand

LanArte has grown to an exclusive brand. It is famous for their high quality needlework kits. The most important factors are the high quality materials and the unique designs. LanArte has its own design team. This team works together with well known artists like Marjolein Bastin. The designers start from a painting or image that breathes the LanArte atmosphere. They process it into a pattern that is easy to embroider. The designers give careful consideration to the color palettes used for each specific design. During a process of trial and error they check whether all details correspond. Only when every detail meets the requirements, the design goes into production. Every year, LanArte adds dozens of new designs to the existing collection.

Working on a LanArte kit is more than embroidery. It is participating in a centuries long tradition of arts and crafts.
LanArte is the art of stitching.
