The 17th century Turkisch traveller, Evliya Çelebi, described embroidery as ‘the craft of two hands’. Since those early years, generations of stitchers have kept this ancient craft alive and today, in the 21st century the long tradition of embroidery has been enriched with a new name: LanArte.
In 1934 Guus and Emilie Vergnes’ small store, in Leeuwarden in The Netherlands, quickly became synonymous with exclusive needlework kits. For decades LanArte has held a leading position in the craft sector. In the 1970’s and 80’s, Guus and Emilie’s sons developed their excusive needlework kits to be among the best in Europe. The sale of the company to the Belgian group Verachtert, in 2011, brought a new dynamic, creative thrust and further expansion. Today, LanArte launches 2 new collections each year, each inspired by the latest trends. Nearly a century of excellence and quality is only possible if you are constantly seeking out new challenges, this is what makes LanArte world class.
LanArte has grown to an exclusie brand. this is proven by the high quality materials and the unique designs they use. LanArte has its own design team, which works together with innovative designs. The designers start from a painting or image that evokes the LanArte atmosphere. They process them into a pattern that is easy to embroider. Careful consideration is given to the color palettes used for each specific design. During a process of trial and error they check whether all details correspond. Only when every detail meets the requirements, the design goes into production. Every year, LanArte adds dozens of new designs to the existing collection.
Working on a LanArte kit is more than embroidery. It is enveloping yourself in a centuries long tradition of art and craft.
LanArte is the art of stitching.
